Daily Show: John Irving interview

In this august 17th, 2005 episode of the Daily Show, Jon Stewart talked with John Irving, the prolific writer whose works include Cider House Rules and The World according to Garp. Irving was talking about his 11th novel, Until I Find You. The man seemed serious and unflappable. One of those intense folks you know has a lot going on upstairs.

Daily Show: Pat Robertson on Chavez

In this august 24th, 2005 episode of the Daily Show, The Daily Show talked about the fallout after Christian Broadcasting Network owner, host and founder of the Christian Coalition of America publicly called for the assasination of Venezualan president Hugo Chavez. Even though, officially, the president dismissed the remarks, it got Robertson in a bit of hot water. But how seriously can you take a guy that says feminism encourages women to "kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians." At first Robertson tried to backtrack, but within a day apologized for his comments.

Podcast: History of Me
It's most likely drivel. One night a week and a half ago I sat down with the recorder and reminisced about the follies and misadventures of youth. I recalled most of the dark moments. Topics included getting tossed out of college, drunk driving and a slew of romantic and/or sexual encounters. It was as if the minidisc recorder was a confessional. It felt good to expunge that kopf-schiesse. Then I touched up the dialog a bit and put some music in the background. So, this may be podcast gold or crap. Frankly, I haven't figured out the difference yet. Enjoy.

Bryce Renderings
I've gotten into Bryce. I've made a few little renderings. Most are 3 to 10 seconds. Some of them I've included some music and credits. I have a total of 5 machines going at most any any given time. I have a Bryce Lightening installed on the laptop, the old dual xeon server, the new mce 2005 box, my gaming rig and the imac. Most of the movies here took 1.5-2 days to render. The first, f3600_1 is a possible intro movie for the site. However, I don't like how the "f3600" came out. I was experimenting with a new Bryce feature, "Metaballs". That is what makes up the finger. The next was a large render done on the iMac. I wish I had animated the waves, but overall I'm pretty pleased with it. The next is mountians2. I'm not too pleased with the terraform, but I was experimenting with waves using instead a high res mountain spaced at 1600x1600. This worked suprisingly well for large rolling waves. The pipe and mine I found online.

F3600 Classic: Jimmy
One night Drew and I went to the cafe. As is our custom we got coffee and tea and started a game of dominoes. Often, when we play at the cafe, strangers join our game and play for a while. On this occasion a man named Jimmy joined us. I managed to capture it on a very shitty camera. I put it to Johnny Cash's rendetion of NINs Hurt. I think it came out quite well.

Winter Carnival 2005
In the second week of Febuary this year I joined my mates from my first year of college up in Houghton, MI for MTU's Winter Carnival. We were all in the same dorm in the 1996-1997 school year. For the better part of 97-98 most of us stayed there despite the elimination of our hall ITK (I Tappa Kegga). For many of us, this was the first time we reconnected in 8 years.

The group consisted of Joel Tacey, his wife Peggy, Matt Stanich, Mike Masters, Troy Clayton, Ben Kroeger, Phil and Adrian Kosiara, and myself. With the exception of myself (whose gained weight since college), they all looked the same. The only difference between then and now was that now we had money and jobs. Other than that it seemed like we were back in the dorms.

I created a permanent home for the guys of 2nd floor west mcnair here on f3600. You can see the photo log of our journey and Mike Masters is working on DVD of our vacation.
