What is F3600?

The name of the site actually comes from the fictional racing league of the old playstation game "Wipeout". The first time I saw the game was a slightly modified version they had in the cybercafe scene in the movie Hackers. In other countries the game was first released as "f3600 anti-gravity racing league". In later versions of the game, the league became f7200. Back in my college days, I used to get all hopped up on pixie sticks (pure sugar) and mountain dew and play the game for hours on a 48" wide screen TV we had in our dorm room. It was intense. Years later, i got an old playstation and hunted down several copies of the game on ebay. There is still a strong following of the game (which went through several incarnations, the latest being Wipeout Pure for the Sony PSP).

My first idea for the site was to be a central repository for Wipeout links and info. Perhaps even a fake corporate site for Auricom Research or AG Systems. Any one of the fake corporate sponsers featured in the game would have made a good focus for a website. Soon after registering the domain, I realized I wasn't as into it as I first thought. In fact, the PS One is collecting dust next to a Dreamcast in some box buried in my living room closet. After a long period of simply being a server for holding content for my other sites, f3600 is being reborn as a site featuring and hosting multimedia conent that I and perhaps others create.
